What can I do properly protect my skin?
Ultraviolet rays from sunlight are the number one culprit in damaging your skin. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause wrinkles, loose skin, age spots, spider veins, and a blotchy complexion. All of these things combined can make you look years older than you actually are. The number one defense of preventing skin damage from UV rays is wearing sunscreen. An SPF of at least 30+ is recommended. It is also recommended that you wear sunscreen everyday time you go outside, even when it is colder outside.
A rigorous sunscreen routine can help prevent and even slow down and reverse the signs of aging. In addition, UV damage from sunlight can also cause skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the US. Wearing sunscreen can greatly reduce your risk and protect you against skin cancer. Be sure to book an appointment today if you have any concerns about any possible warning signs of skin cancer. Our dermatologists can provide early diagnosis which is essential. Most skin cancers are treatable if caught early.
Why should you use a board-certified dermatologist?
There are doctors in the field practicing dermatology that do not have the proper training. This can result in being misdiagnosed and receiving sub-par treatment. A board-certified dermatologist must go through an intense three-year program of an accredited dermatology residency studying pathology, surgery and cutaneous medicine. These residencies are very difficult to get into and to earn credentials. When you use a dermatologist that is board-certified you can be rest assured that he or she has the proper rigorous training within the specific field of dermatology to provide you with the best and most specialized services and treatments within the dermatology field.
